On May 16, students and families gathered at Tres Pinos Elementary School for the first-ever Color Run—an amazing celebration of wellness, connection, and local partnerships. Funded through the California Community Schools Partnership Program (CCSPP) Grant, the event brought together the entire school community for an afternoon full of fun, movement, and color. The YMCA of San Benito County partnered with the school to coordinate the event, bringing their expertise in promoting wellness and healthy lifestyles.
Gwen Baquiran, Assistant Superintendent of Student Services at the San Benito County Office of Education, worked closely with Tres Pinos Principal Nancy Wilcox to turn the event into a colorful success. Their collaboration showcased the strength of integrated support systems and the impact of school-community partnerships.
The Color Run wasn’t just about the colors—it got everyone moving, supported physical well-being, and brought students, families, and staff closer together. It was a vibrant reminder of what’s possible when schools, families, and community partners come together to support the whole child.
